This decade was one of simple living and strong family ties. People spent more time together; children indulged in creative, imaginative play. When war came, the men marched off to fight, and women kept the homesteads running. Civilians dealt with rationing, sold war bonds, and conducted scrap drives. Most importantly, Americans were patriotic, strong, and united.
